When you go through the end city portal when you're in the end city dimension you get pushed by the bedrock and that can result in you falling off the map like I did.. Losing all your items and resetting basically everything, so it would be great if you could change it to make it so that you spawn on top of it instead of next to it, please Mojang this would save a lot of time.

I cant its just the bedrock pushed me off the map when I got through the lower half of my player was in the bedrock and it was pushing me.
I believe I'm experiencing the same issue, managed to easily reproduce it in creative mode in a newly generated world:

You can see how the gateway spawns you inside the bedrock. In my case this lead to being looped between the gateways but I could also imagine it leading you to be pushed out into the void.
Hello, I had the same issue happen to me in my 1.18.2 world. Here is a screenshot. When teleporting back to this end portal, I spawn into the bedrock block next to the deepslate and get pushed out to the right side which caused me to fall into the void.
A few things to note.
1) There is a deepslate block under the bedrock block which I am spawning in.
2) I tried it 20 or so times in creative with consistent results when teleporting back to this location.
3) I'm not sure if it matters, but I do have a couple data packs in the save, although nothing which should affect portals.

This new issue is actually very funny tho. It seems the check does not check if it's a valid place to put the entity. So the attached image is a valid spot. Just don't put any blocks below the bedrock as a temporary fix.
Also mojang, just do an entity check 😉
Honestly this specific teleport hurts me, since it actually just spawns you in blocks either way. So do a heightmap check like all other teleports and make sure its not bedrock
