[MC-193921] Using beds or respawn anchors, the ender dragon can be killed without destroying the end crystals/unbalanced fast

If timed right, the ender dragon can be killed before destroying the end crystals by placing and exploding beds under the dragon's head. For example, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bf1qdEN32DI, and a more detailed description of how to reproduce this is available here.

Given that doing so with explosions has been extremely difficult in the past, I presume that this is unintended behavior (albeit with minimal impact outside of speedrunning).

[IMO: Personally, I think this should be kept in singleplayer, but is worth reporting as unintended nonetheless.]

I'm not really sure how to answer that question. As in, other than "it gets fixed", what makes one say that we have to obtain items instead of duping them, or anything similar? The answer seems to be that duplication seems unnatural / violates the standard progression, and it is particularly hard to do in that obscure methods are required to do it. The same would apply here.

@TriWonder81 All Game Mechanics over here work as intended. Beeing able to kill the Enderdragon like this does not break the game in any way.

Except the beds in this case kill the dragon insanely fast. The explosion damage might need to be nerfed

Beds are supposed to kill the player. The deathmessage involves "Intentional Gamedesign". Smart players might figure out ways to 'exploit' this, but after all this works as intended. A lot of things are exploitable, which is ok. Some things are even kept into the game because the playerbase got so used to it.

Wither skulls are ment to be rare, yet you can make any wither skeleton drop their skull using a trident. You can manipulate the game in many ways, using different game mechanics. and this works just as intended.

You need evidence from Mojang that the player should be able to entirely bypass the boss fight by using a few beds before this can be considered WAI

Can't say anything that hasn't been said before. Minecraft is a game that's based on the concept of a sandbox and this is just an example of using mechanics given to the player to solve a problem, can't say I agree with this being reported.

As far as I'm concerned, it's still a problem. Despite the fact that Minecraft is a sandbox, it should not have serious problems with balance. Recently, this method of killing has replaced all the other methods, which makes it not exciting.

I was actually surprised this works. I agree this creates a balance problem. Although I feel like java speed runners "cheat" already anyway. (no offense, I still love watching) They use hitboxes and debug menus and go above the nether. it's broken. Well, I think it's broken but there's a lot of broken things in this game and I think it (Minecraft) being a sandbox makes it up to you how to play. So if you feel the bed method is boring then, maybe just kill the dragon vanilla and post your run? Nothing stopping anyone from doing anything in this awesome sandbox game.
