[MC-195596] Exception generating new chunk: java.util.ConcurrentModificationException

While generating new chunks on a server the following exception crashed the server. The only artifact I could find is a tree that I had previously planted sapplings for, floating 2 blocks above the ground.

Are you using any datapacks or resource packs? Did you experience this in a pure vanilla environment (not Optifine, etc.)?

I haven't installed any mods or datapacks, neither on the server, nor on the client.

What version of Java are you using? If it's Java 11 or above, you may have run into MC-149777.

Yes, I'm on Java 11. My scenario is identical to https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-149777?focusedCommentId=659255&page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel#comment-659255, so it might indeed be the same issue.
