[MC-19702] Wither armor has wrong texture

I spawned a Wither and found it to look odd. So I spawned one in a controlled environment and halved its health. The armor appears to be the wrong texture. Almost like the Wither texture itself.
I am not using a resource pack. This is vanilla sounds, music, and textures.

this is works as intended, look at the changelog on the MC wiki for 1.6.1 pre-release

There is not a single word about wither armor or even similar in 1.6.1.

The armour texture appears to randomly change between "wither.png" and "wither_invulnerable.png". "wither_armour.png" is never selected.
