Nether shores are very frequently one block too high

Rather than smoothly declining like in the Overworld, the edges of lava lakes usually feature a two block drop which I doubt is intentional. It is possible to have shores which are at the same level as lava but these cases are rare.

Totally agree, it seems like that bug when the mesa biome generates cut off by water on rivers and oceans next to it. Totally unfair and ugly looking. Must be fixed
