Sometimes an amethyst geode can generate above ground. This does look cool though so it might be a feature, but if it is a feature it generates trough trees as well.

This is an intentional feature, not really a bug, as all Amythest geodes spawn with a crack in them, so when they generate under water, they’re partially open.
