The bug
Items that are in a ladder travel upwards instead being pushed out of the ladder and falling down. They heavily glitch (jump around or become invisible) in the process.
How to reproduce
Dig a 1x1 hole and fill it with ladders (all facing to the same side)
Remove the 2nd ladder from the bottom
Drop any item so that it comes to rest on the 1st ladder from the bottom
Place the previously removed ladder again. (hurry up before the item falls)
Climb the ladder upwards to the end to find the dropped item
