I see the same issues reported. In my case all villagers gone, all golems gone, all bred animals gone, copper and amethyst no longer exist. I see them marked as resolved but I see no resolution. I understand you have created two incompatible versions (which I would love an explanation for as well) but just a statement the two are incompatible is not a resolution.
How do we get back to the other launcher? My world is wrecked and a backup does no good since I have no way to revert to the previous release.

Yes, as I said, it is a duplicate because there is no resolution posted. I suppose I should be more specific.
I need:
1. a link to download the minecraft version 20w51a full installation package with the old launcher version as well..
2. a way to turn off updates so that this does not happen again.
3. a way to turn off minecrafts ability to connect to the internet until a suitable version is released.
Is this something you can help me with or notify someone who can?
The 'Latest Snapshot' setting on the launcher plays in the latest development version that has been released, which in this case was for 1.16 rather than 1.17 due to a hotfix. If you go into the Installations tab of the launcher, you can create a new profile that plays in the 1.17 snapshots. You cannot turn off updates arriving in the launcher or disable its internet access, but you can choose which version you play using this method.
Hello! This looks to be a duplicate of MC-211308. You have essentially downgraded a 1.17 world to 1.16, and downgrading is not supported. See the comment by @unknown for more information regarding your issue.
