Chat will show command lines only (who joins, who leaves, who sleeps and who dies)
To remedy this I have tried:
logging out and logging in
making my settings match other players
logged out and logged in
selected command only option logged out logged in
changed to show chat all
logged out logged in
logged out, uninstalled launcer, re installed launcher, restarted PC and logged back in. turned chat option to command, logged out logged in changed chat to show, logged out, logged in
chat still stuck on command only
impact may seem small but I only play on a server with friends and have been reduced to using oak signs for communication.
Please help
If I select chat option (press 't') error shown is: "cannot send chat message"
My in-game name is: "CrazyChikenLady"
I play on the server: " insaneasylum.ggs.onl "
All other players chat works on this server.

Just to clarify, you tried to change this option in chat settings to "shown"?
