Stepping into an unloaded chunk is SSP seems to corrupt the file

I was playing single player survival when I found an unloaded chunk. I tried to step into it to force it to load, but I ended up getting stuck in it. I saved and quit and came back. I was still in the chunk. So I changed my gamemode, and when I finally managed to get out, I saw hundreds of pigs (there were only a few of them initially) glitching around and jumping. I saved and quit again, then I tried to get back in. This time, I saw the loading screen then the main menu again. I tried to load the save again, and then Minecraft just froze.

Considering how the population of pigs around my house increased by around 10000%, I think the save file may be corrupted.

How to reproduce it?
I guess walking in a chunk in SSP should do it.

More information
I was using a texture pack.

I wonder if that is related to few bug reports where there is hundreds of spiders and skellies. They may also have corrupted map, just not clear where while yours is obvious.

I don't think the unloaded chunks cause the swarm of mobs - I think it's the other way around. When the local singleplayer server is stressed, it will fail to load chunks for the client.

I was playing an adventure map, and at some point the game ceased to respond correctly. It was as if the singleplayer local server were lagging badly, and I saw my CPU was at 100%. I quit and restarted a few times, but to no avail. MCedit revealed that a good 200 or so bats had spawned some distance away. I have no indication that any feature of the map itself would do this, and seeing as Hypixel's maps are rather popular, I'm certain there would have been more complaints if it had anything to do with that. Rather, there's some seriously wrong entity bug going on here...

Good point actually. How is mobs stored anyway? Is there a per chunk limit of mobs?

Entities spawn near corrupt chunks, the reason is because there is no lightning in corrupt chunks,

@Rolf Redford
Entities are stored in the region files, if you want more information on this go there:http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Chunk_format#Tile_Entity_Format

Yah. I had the same problem with pigs. However, the chunk error outside my house had been there a week before it started spamming pigs.
