Night vision in the void has a weird effect on the interface

While having the night vision effect and going below bedrock in the overworld, the interface of Minecraft gets black and crippled (Screenshots) and messages in the chat are not shown any more.

Not tested in the nether nor in the end.

This is not really a duplicate of MC-165208, since the text will appear normal after "diving up" again.
This is maybe linked to MC-205569
