Cheese Caves don't generate high above y=0

Spaghetti caves generates above y=0 and can sometimes be exposed to the surface, but this doesn't seem to happen with cheese caves.  Pillars can still generate in the spaghetti caves above y=0.  Images attached below are examples that wouldn't generate high above y=0.  This issue also relates to MC-216778

Does this still happen in the Caves & Cliffs datapack for 1.17.1 provided by Mojang

Anthony, that data pack served the purpose the experimental snapshots do. strictly speaking, the pack is an outdated version, and the new ones are not supported on the bug tracker.

I think that cheese caves just rarely generate above y=0 because in the 1.18 experimental snapshots, cheese caves aren't flooded anymore

@unknown can it be reproduced in the Caves & Cliffs preview datapack though. The experimental snapshots aren't valid for testing/creating bugs in the datapack is

Is it still though? The data pack was the 1.18 generation preview, that is now done by the experimental snapshots. The pack is already effectively an outdated thing.

I'm pretty sure that it cheese caves can generate above y=0 but they don't intersect the surface.

If this is still an issue in 1.17.1, please provide the seed and coordinates so the issue can be reproduced.

I don't think it is an issue anymore, you can just remove it
