I found a fortune 3 gold pick while exploring in hardcore mode. I have used it on diamonds, iron, and redstone and it did not drop anything at all.

Duplicate of MC-155660. Despite it being Fortune III, you still need at least a stone pickaxe to mine iron and an iron pickaxe to mine diamonds and redstone. You can usually tell a block won't drop if it takes an abnormally long time to mine. It should still duplicate coal ore, though.
