No stronghold generated where the eye of ender sent me

We were looking for a stronghold with eyes of ender, but when we arrived at the place where the eye of ender led us, there was NO stronghold. We intensivly searched the entire ground but we are 100% sure that there is no stronghold.

As far as I know there is no way to reproduce it. (generate structures was ON)When I generated a new world and used enderpearls to find a stronghold, it was there like it should be.

As you can see on the screenshot all the eyes of ender float there, which suggests that there should be at least an End portal.

What is the seed of the world and the coordinates of the stronghold ?

Seed: 118184301700234194
Coordinates: x: 649 z:236

Confirmed. Went to 656, 240 as specified in Amidst and could not find a stronghold. Throwing eyes of ender from that position led me to south-western stronghold instead (which did exist). Attached screenshot to show region where stronghold is expected.

Looking at map in Minutor, the 3 sets of chunks around the expected coordinates have been generated when the world was created, but only the south-western group contain a stronghold. The north west and western strongholds are missing.

1.3.2 generated stronghold at expected location (646, 27, 237)

Could It Possibly Be The Stronghold Generating But Then Getting Overwritten By A Cave?

wessel gefken

the area was pretty much empty.

@Jon It is odd that the eye of ender goes to the place where a stronghold would have been in the previous version of the game. Allthough I did generate the world on 1.4.2

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

This applies to many generated structures, not just strongholds. Villages will not always be generated where they're supposed to, witch huts, etc.

It seems to be a priority issue. In the world generator, strongholds and other generated structures need to take priority over natural formations like caves, crevaces, etc.

Issues seem to arise where the land cannot support the structure, for example trying to create a village in an extreme hills area. In those cases, tools like Amidst show that the seed wanted to have a structure at a certain location, but apparently the worldgen gave up trying to generate it for one reason or another. The worldgen should perhaps level out the land occupied by the village at a height that's average to the surrounding area and generate it then. These structures are rare enough as it is and don't need to be made more rare by failing to spawn them in unbuildable areas.

No answer on querry, assuming no longer an issue.

Is there any word on whether or not Eyes of Ender leading to Stronghold locations from differing versions incorrectly is Works as Intended?

A lot of these reports seem to get ignored because people think the poster is just not understanding what they're doing. But clearly, generation changes have been a major issue for Eyes of Ender over the years.

Is the solution just "stop using old worlds", or can we expect a solution which points Eyes of Ender only at locations with physically generated Strongholds?
