When placing rails in a circle with straight rails coming off of the curved ones, the result is not...understandable? When all the curved tracks are powered, the result is shown below. However, I believe the game should function that all the curved tracks should face the same direction then all face the other when powered. This is not how it happens in MC 1.6.1. I have also read the patch notes for 1.6.2 and no fix or notice of this bug is there. This may be an intending physic but highly doubt it.
Thank you for reading.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
In addition, the south east rule can be difficult to understand? Is there any reason why this is necessary in the game? Surely it would be easier to eradicate it overall?
South-East Rule
— The South-East Rule is an unintentional mechanic in Minecraft wherein various effects occur based on compass rose directions.
Notch didn't do it that way because it was desirable. He did it that way because it was easy. Code that always does the same thing vs code that has to check a bunch of stuff and make a decision? First one's going to be shorter and simpler.
None of the people who have since been hired to develop Minecraft have thought it important enough (or fun enough) to sit down and try to slog through all the necessary work to eradicate it. It's annoying, but most people are used to it and just work around it.
Confirmed. Might be a directional thing though.
