The bug
In the past, using a fishing rod to cause fall damage would give xp and rare drops. This is no longer the case.
Steps to reproduce
Go above a cow
Hook it with a fishing rod
Reel it in
Repeat until the entity dies
❌ The mob will not drop rare drops or xp.

@unknown Ahh, if that's the case it's probably a side effect of MC-118174.
Duplicate of MC-100991. And it was never counted as player kill.
