Arm holding item moves backwards while using items

the bug

Normally, your arm that is holding an item sticks out a little bit. However, this is not the case whilst eating food in your other hand.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Place totem in offhand

  2. Place food in main hand

  3. Go in front-view third-person mode (F5 twice)

  4. Eat the food

--> ❌  Notice the hand containing the non-food item moves backwards as if you are not holding it.

Additional information

It is possible that this is an intentional feature.

Further investigation regarding this core problem concludes that this issue affects any item that can be used/consumed so I've updated this ticket accordingly.

Before version 1.17, this problem did not arise. I have included two comparison videos for reference. It is probable that it was introduced by the fixes implemented for issues MC-176614, MC-203602, MC-204424, and MC-205228.

This problem impacts a range of items, including eyes of enders (due to MC-107185), shields, spyglasses, as well as all food and drinkable items and tridents. Conversely, items like bows or crossbows deliberately alter the pose of the opposite arm too and remain therefore unaffected.
Edit: As it turns out, the problem did not arise in version 20w48a but rather in version 21w13a. It is probable that addressing the issue outlined in MC-200001 has led to the emergence of this bug.

Furthermore, brushes are also impacted by this issue.
