Minecraft 1.17 Unplayable Lag when upgrading existing 1.16.5 worlds to 1.17

When I upgrade an existing world(saved in 1.16.5 for me) to 1.17, there is unbearable lag, so much so that I can't play the game at all. However, when I create a new world in 1.17, there is absolutely no lag whatsoever, and the game runs buttery smooth. And the world that was upgraded from 1.16.5 to 1.17 was also running buttery smooth in 1.16.5, but in 1.17, it's absolutely unplayable.

@SomeonePLaysMC Good suggestion, but new worlds created on 1.17 are running buttery smooth, as is the existing world on 1.16.5. I am only facing this issue when upgrading existing 1.16.5 worlds to 1.17.

@violine1101 The minimum requirements for Minecraft stated in the website is Intel core i3 3210 @ 3.2 GHz, 4 GB RAM and Intel HD 4000 graphics. My PC does meet the minimum requirements!

Yes. I agree this should be reopened. I couldn't find anything to help, but this might increase your fps:

Turn:

Graphics to Fast;

Smooth Lighting to OFF;

Clouds to OFF;

Render Distance to 6 chunks;

View Bobbing to OFF;

Particles to Decreased;

Entity Shadows to OFF;

Entity Distance to 50%;

Distortion Effects to 30%;

FOV Effects to 30%;

Biome Blend to OFF;

Fullscreen Resolution to 800x600@48 (24bit);

Fullscreen to ON;

VSync to OFF (Optional);

With these settings and without VSync, i am able to get 150+ fps on a new world and 50+ fps on your world, so this should boost your FPS.

Ok, thank you so much for investing your time in this to help me out. 😃 I am also considering using Sodium, Phosphor and Lithium mods when they are released to get even better performance.
