[MC-233673] loading old worlds in 1.17 cause random holes

when I loaded my survival world in 1.17 it caused a bunch of random holes where I'm pretty sure it's where ores and amethyst geodes are supposed to be. this isn't an urgent fix, its just a problem that I think is worth reporting.

steps to recreate
1: create or load a 1.16 to 1.16.5 world
2:make sure you're in 1.17 or above
3:go into spectator mode
4: notice the weird holes everywhere

Please attach the original 1.16 copy of the world for testing

You can provide a copy of your world by uploading it to a service such as google drive, dropbox, etc... and then providing the link here. Please could you do this as this is needed to further investigate this issue? Thanks a bunch 😃

If you didn't have a copy/backup of the world in 1.16.5 then unfortunately you can't provide the original world for us to investigate.
