Accidentally submitted twice. Whoops.
I think I may just have discovered one of the strangest bugs in Minecraft. You will almost not believe what this, but I swear this is real.
I was messing around in Experimental Snapshot 4. I was exploring some of the new mountains, but also some of the new caves. I found a cool cave entrance at the surface, and I followed it down and down and down. Swam through a flooded cave, and then followed the system down further to a dry cave. I kept going down and eventually was in deepslate layers. This opened into a quite a large cave (but not one of the megacaves). That is where I noticed some odd iron generation.
The iron was sort of peppered around the cave floor instead of in blobs or veins like usual. There was some tuff there, too. I mined some of it up but I found some more iron ore, also scattered around. This, to my surprise, led to MORE iron ore. I kept mining it up, but more and more kept showing up.
So weird, before the biggest vein of ore I found was like 10 or 12 ores? But my gosh this just kept going and going. Within no time at all, I had a stack of raw iron. But this just kept going on and on. I kept finding more and more and more and more and more iron. For the next 10 minutes, I mined, utterly dazed and confused. I've played Minecraft for 9 years but I have never seen any bug like THIS. And I've seen some VERY strange ones in my time!
This has to be the 2nd weirdest bug I've ever encountered behind the overlapping music bug in 1.7. In minutes, I had four or five stacks of iron. Basically, I figure something in this seed happened with the generation of iron ore, and it's triggered an infinite vein of iron ore. Because this thing never ended. Eventually, I gave up trying to find the end of it and figured it went on forever until the world border.
What's strange though is that this is a multiplayer world me and a friend made to explore these new experimental snapshots. As we were exploring the mountains for quite a while, I was quite far from spawn when I found this. Unfortunately, because we're both offline, the server has closed down and my friend, who runs the server, has gone to bed, so I can't get the seed and coordinates. But as soon as I can obtain this information, I will provide it. Because this bug has to be seen to be believed.
But hey, on this world I guess I will NEVER need to make an iron farm!

I assume your ticket was taken down as it's an experimental snapshot, bugs are to be expected as it is still in development. The bug tracker is only intended to track completed versions or snapshots.
Although if I'm wrong and this is a valid ticket than try and leave some extra information such as the world seed, screenshots and/or video and also a screenshot with the F3 screen up
This is not a valid ticket anyway. It turns out this isn't a bug at all. I was unaware that these mega ore veins are actually a feature added some months ago that somehow flew under my radar.
I guess they are very very rare. But if you've played Survival Minecraft for 9 years then come across something like this for the first time, not knowing it's intentional, it.... really does seem like a VERY strange bug!
Don't duplicate your own tickets.
