When placed in a specific order, tripwire string might not connect with each other properly, causing a gap in the texture. This is purely a visual bug, it doesn't change their actual behaviour.
Walking on them refreshes their states and fixes the issue.
The order required to reproduce the issue depends on the direction the blocks are placed, as shown in the following video (too big to be attached): https://i.rigner.ovh/ZoRUhWAy.mp4.
There's also a lighting issue on one side of the string tied to the hook, where the black->white gradiant is in the wrong direction.

Noticed it's also happening in 1.17.1. Tested all previous versions of Minecraft and it seems to have started between 1.12.2 and 1.13.2.
No need to comment on your own reports if it affects more versions. Just add the info to the report.
This is NOT directional dependent. It can happen in all directions. It seems to happen based on how the blocks choose to update.
Yes like I said, it's happening on all directions, will just be on a different side. Can be reproduced on all directions depending on the placed order.
