I've never had this happen and i have absolutely no idea how to describe this.
The closest i can get to a description is " several layered debug menus " I've attached some images of what i'm seeing.
this just started today when i went to play the latest release (1.17.1) as until now i was playing on 1.16, all i did was load up the game and join a single player world.
even the menu screen where you select single or multi was weird, the buttons were cut in half.
sorry for the crappy description this is really my first problem I've had.

I have no clue how to describe this either. Have you tried reloading minecraft?
