Looking at a biome map in 1.18, I saw that some biome borders are too smooth. The biome borders incriminated are (at least) transitions between different levels of temperature and/or "dryness".
You can see attached the map clearly showing those smooth borders. I have also uploaded the same biome map where I highlighted some of these very smooth borders. There is also a screenshot ingame of such a smooth transition (same seed).
I think that the usage of a fractal noise function would mostly solve the issue by making borders rougher at any level of details.

Mr_Quasi here. https://www.chunkbase.com/apps/seed-map
Yes, I used chunkbase. But it is not really relevant because I checked in-game. I have also just attached a new in-game screenshot with a map.
@tryashtar This is a newly generated world. This happens in all worlds, just not necessarily as visible as here.
This issue still is in the game as of version 1.19.2. on both normal biome size and Large Biomes. All game modes. It is also worth mentioning that biome to sub-biome borders are fine (for example jungle to sparse jungle border). It's when the Temperature and/or dryness changes that the border issue is very visible. Aside from obvious smooth round and silly shapes of the biomes some weird things happen as well with biome placement (for example a swamp biome areas in an otherwise desert biome completely diffrent dryness and temperature)
The issue still exists in version 1.20.1-1.20.4. I don't understand why this CRITICAL bug is being ignored. I agree that world generation got better in details for v. 1.18+ but this new world generation feature has MAJOR side effect (definitely can be called a bug) which is ugly biome borders or biome overlapping or biome shapes. I really hope you got my point. The world generation doesn't have to be realistic, if reality is ugly. It should be nice, lovely, and interesting. Random and noise are the best for this. Please do not ignore this. Please fix this critical bug.
May I ask what program you use for the biome oversight, is it something related to Amidst?
