Pumpkins used to be rare to find, even rarer than diamond, and now are everywhere, since the change to melons also affecting pumpkins, they should still be as rare as they used to be.

Yeah, so this report may be invalid or WAI since they have been always like this and to be honest pumpkins are important, cuz of security reasons.

I don't see this necessarily as a feature request or suggestion. The frequency might have been accidentally increased, as many other features had their frequency accidentally changed due to changes in the 1.18 development cycle, e.g. MC-243020, MC-244203. Specifically for pumpkin patches, these changes also caused MC-242578.
Marking as Plausible for now because it seems that, anecdotally, I have encountered more pumpkin patches than in 1.17.1, but this might be biased and a proper analysis may be needed.
