When I was digging down to a supposed lush cave, I dug into a mineshaft which caused my game to almost crash because of the severe lag I had encountered. I couldn't do anything for a solid minute. I am on a 3 year old computer and it's currently handling 1.18 very well, but that lag spike gave me a scare.
Moving across new chunks also gives me a bunch of painful lag because of the caves and mineshafts etc generating under me while travelling. My FPS drops to 2.

How can I give the memory usage? And yeah, I can recreate it easily. I just have to find another mineshaft
I reported this bug (probably related to memory leak again) multiple times, but its 'resolved' as in "we don't bother" > "next". Isn't the first time this happened to me, mob spawning issues (in that case pandas) where also dropped as invalid because one could spawn a panda in a single biome without checking further (time spend to recheck 5 seconds?) without noticing the rate was practically 0, has been fixed after multiple reports from other players followed. Guess this bug will somehow surface as well with this method.
Regarding the leak, it doesn't resolve after closing the map and going back to the start menu. Only when rebooting the entire game and from the other reports I also read it's more related to exsiting worlds in SSP's. The SMP i'm playing at didn't show memory leak.
I believe this might be a duplicate of MC-243471. Could you please attach a screenshot of this issue occurring with the F3 screen enabled?
We do not have enough information to find the cause of this issue.
While the lag occurs, please press F3
+ L
once, then wait a short moment until profiling has finished.
Afterwards, please attach the generated .zip
file containing the profiling results here. The file path is shown in chat; the file can be found in [minecraft/debug/profiling/<DATE>.zip|https://minecrafthopper.net/help/finding-minecraft-data-folder/]
.
If you are playing on a server please additionally run the command /perf start
to create a profiling report for the server. In case you do not have the permission to run this command, make sure that you're a server operator.
Once profiling has finished, please attach the generated .zip
file from debug/profiling/<DATE>.zip
of the server folder.
This issue is being temporarily closed as Awaiting Response. Once the requested information has been delivered, the report will be reopened automatically.

There are reports of a memory leak happening with world generation. If you can recreate this, could you give the memory usage when these FPS drops happen?
