MC-245825

Players sometimes fall through the world client-side when respawning in server environments

The Bug:

Players sometimes fall through the world client-side when respawning in server environments.

Steps to Reproduce:

  • Join a multiplayer server or a LAN world.

  • Set your spawnpoint in any area outside of the spawn chunks.

  • Unload the chunks that your spawnpoint is in and die through any cause.

  • As your respawn pay close attention to your surroundings.

  • Take note as to whether or not players sometimes fall through the world client-side when respawning in server environments.

Observed Behavior:

The player appears to be falling through the world for around three seconds.

Expected Behavior:

The player would not fall through the world when respawning.

Does MC-228420 describe your issue?

Avoma

Hello, no, MC-228420 doesn't describe my issue. 🙂

This problem (MC-245825) only occurs when respawning whilst in a server environment and is different from the issue mentioned in MC-228420. MC-228420 talks about how upon joining worlds, players appear to fall through the map whereas this ticket (MC-245825) is talking about how the player falls through the world when entering chunks (respawning) in areas that weren't previously loaded.

Misode

That seems like the same underlying issue to me.

I've adjusted the summary of MC-228420, essentially this is the same issue. AFAIK the same code is used for joining a server, travelling between dimensions, and respawning.

My apologies, I see what you mean now. Thank you for this information. 🙂
