Some worldgen datapacks can kill the internal server (possibly related to density functions)

The Bug

Certain worldgen datapack configurations can cause the internal server to stop ticking. I've been unable to figure out the exact cause, and reproducing the issue reliably was very difficult until I found a specific combination of location and configuration that would always crash.

Expected Behavior

The server should continue ticking

Steps to reproduce

  1. Download the attacked datapack Cool Bug Fact's.zip and install it onto a world at world creation.

  2. Run the command /tp 179101 87 -38353

  3. Observe that the server hangs within a few seconds and stops ticking.

No. Both of those issues existed in 1.18.1. This is almost certainly a new issue with 1.18.2-pre1 or pre2.

Neither has been fixed, so it could well happen in newer versions, right?

A nearly identical datapack to the one posted here did not have the hang issue in 1.18.1. This is almost certainly a new issue.

I could confirm with the provided data pack.
