Despite overriding all configured features for birch trees, birch saplings still generate normal vanilla trees, despite the game code suggesting that it should use minecraft:birch or minecraft:birch_bees_005. Both regular world generation and the placefeature command work as expected.

@FlamingObsidian Datapacks (just like Resource Packs) are a supported feature of the game, and this report simply describes an issue with them. There's even a category for them.
It's invalid because you're using datapacks
