The word "burnt" within some death messages isn't spelled in American English

The Bug:

The word "burnt" within some death messages isn't spelled in American English.

Minecraft's source language, (which is English, United States), always spells words in American English, however, the word "burnt" within some death messages isn't spelled in American English. It should be "burned" instead of "burnt".

It's important to note that both "burnt" and "burned" are acceptable spellings, however, "burned" is most popular and is typically used in American English. On the other hand, "burnt" is the most common form in other parts of the world, such as British English, etc...

Below is a table I've constructed that lists all death messages in the game that contain the words "burnt" or "burned" to show the issue that's present here.

Affected Strings:

Before reading the table, please note the following:

  • Words colored in GREEN are correct.

  • Words colored in ORANGE are correct but are different issues therefore are being tracked in other tickets.

  • Words colored in RED are incorrect.

Comments 3

This bug report incorrectly claims that the usage of burnt constitutes a spelling error; see here.

Furthermore, I believe that burnt is preferable over burned on stylistic grounds; you can see my thoughts in this Reddit post.

The triaging of MC-251754 and MC-250194 suggests that Mojang Studios prefer to maintain consistency regarding how words are spelled across the game. Considering that some strings use the word "burned" and others use "burnt", in my eyes, is a valid inconsistency regardless of how minuscule it may seem.
