[MC-255769] Java Minecraft can't be played by Windows 7 users

I have submitted 3 bug reports, which none have been taken up.

They basically lock out users that do not want to use Windows 10.

The original launcher works with 1.18.2 but 1.19+ tries to write a directory with ":" in the name which Windows does not allow: https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-252904

The Windows 7 official launcher does not like the HTTPS handshake of the official patch servers that obviously should use HTTP for energy efficiency because patch data pose no security threat: https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCL-22346

And there is no support on either of these.

no? helpers' responses look like completely valid to me, and reposting & putting 3 problems in 1 report just makes bugs harder to track

Well this is a company wide defect: with 2.6% of steam users still on Windows 7 that is 3,2 million customers.

These are bugs, the software has defects in it that creates problems.

Support is non existent, I have tried.

I needed to group them to explain the wider problem and be able to communicate the broader effect of the bugs = Mojang are ignoring customers.

There's a policy here to only report 1 issue per report. Do NOT group multiple issues into 1 report under any circumstance. The software of the bug tracker is not made to properly support that, and only makes tracking it messy.

Your report not getting responses != your report going ignored.

What @unknown said. Also, please do not create a new ticket just to complain about the status of other tickets. The bug tracker is unable to provide technical support.

As I said I had to group them because they have a common denominator which makes them serious when combined.

Each one separately does not make a high priority.

I have two accounts that I paid for and I cannot play the latest version, I tried getting support from 2nd line and they are unfortunately not able to help.

3,2 million old or more importantly potential new customers have the same problem.

So an update about the accounts system: the new Microsoft accounts do not work on the old .jar or .exe launchers. So the only way to play older Minecraft releases on Windows 7 is to have an old Mojang account.

We cannot play 1.19+

Mojang either needs to remove Windows 7 support from their pages and refund us OR fix the bugs.

Edit: All 3 bugs are now confirmed valid.

This now works again for the latest snapshot, they rolled back to TLS 1.2 on all servers for that release, 19, 19.1 and 19.2 are still unplayable on Windows 7 though.
