Taking any damage before fatal fall damage removes the attacker credited for kill

The bug

Taking any damage before fatal fall damage removes the attacker credited for kill, affecting death messages and statistics.

Steps to Reproduce

1) Take damage from a husk

2) Take any environmental damage (fire, magma block)
3) Fall off a high place
4) "Player was doomed to fall"

1) Take damage from a husk
2) Take minor fall damage (e.g fall 4 blocks)
3) Fall off a high place
4) "Player fell from a high place"

If you had replaced Step 3 with any other way of dying (e.g /kill) it would have shown the attacker (Husk) in the death message.

Can confirm for 1.19.4-rc2. However, using the /kill command as specified in the description defaults to "Killed player" - other methods include the Husk as attacker.

Are you sure you didn't get "Player didn't want to live in the same world as Husk" as a death message because "Killed Player" is just a command output rather than a death message

Can confirm in 1.19.4 & 23w14a.

Seems partially fixed in 1.20 Pre-release 3. I can only get the message "<Player> was doomed to fall by Husk" with the provided reproduction steps, however mobs that die to fall damage immediately after being hit by players still do not increment the mob killed statistics.

Can confirm in 1.21.3
