Nether Portal lights when you place an end crystal on one of bottom onsidian

as we know when you place anything on the bottom obsidian of the nether portal then the portal doesn't light but when you place an end crystal the portal gets light

is this a glitch or a bug?

End crystal is an entity.

That's because doing so creates fire at the crystal; fire in a valid frame opens the portal.
