When you have 1-63 empty bottles in your inventory, 1 water bottle in your main hand, and you right click an empty cauldron, the new empty bottle is still in my main hand, not stacked with the other bottles in my inventory. This problem also occurs with filling honey bottles, which are stackable. For example, with 3 honey bottles in my inventory, and 1 empty bottle in my main hand, after right clicking a bee nest with honey_level:5, my main hand now holds 1 honey bottle instead of stacking it with the other 3 already in my inventory. Is this an intentional feature? If not, please fix this.

The only time a selected item changes slot is if it cannot be part of the sart in said slot; since it is the last of the stack, it's not clashing with the rest of the stack, so it won't move.
It's more intuitive to keep the item selected that you last used than to stack it with an item elsewhere in your inventory and you you with an empty hand.
