Mobs will give up an axe for a sword

If a mob has an axe and finds a sword of the same type, it will drop the axe and pick up the sword. This makes no logical sense, as mobs don't have an attack cooldown, meaning that they are giving up their weapon for one that deals less damage.

How to reproduce:

  1. Summon a zombie (/summon zombie ~ ~ ~ {CanPickUpLoot:1b})

  2. Drop a diamond axe to the zombie and wait for it to pick up the axe

  3. Drop a diamond sword to the zombie

  4. ❌ The zombie picks up the sword

What I expected:

  • The zombie would not pick up the sword as it deals less damage than the weapon it is wielding

What I observed:

  • The zombie picked up the sword

I searched for this, so if this is also a duplicate then I will be unplugging my router and spending the rest of my life as a cashier in Norway.
