Tree leaves don't decay when tree has been chopped down.

Only happens when leaves are adjacent to another tree with logs. (I have checked that I have fully chopped down the original tree before posting this as a bug).

  1. Invalid, modded game.

  2. The leaves only check distance from nearest log; they don't have a sense of "my tree"; they're still in range of a correct wood type.

Duplicate of MC-135983, which has been marked as intended behaviour, as explained in a comment on that issue:

Indeed, as long as it's within a certain radius of a log, it won't decay, even if the log is of a different type.

And to further explain the reason behind this behaviour:

A tree is nothing more than a collection of blocks, not a single one of those blocks contains a "parent" property. Leaves only check their distance from wood/logs and decay if too far away. This has been the case since addition, and remained the case during their block state rewrite in 1.13.
