Shipwreck with two chests, but no map

In Java 1.20.1, seed 4722, at location X: -456 Z: 56, there is a shipwreck. According to the Wiki, any shipwreck that has two chests should have one of them be a map chest. From talking on the Shipwreck page, that map chest should be in the lower stern.

I checked this shipwreck, and it has two chests. But neither of them contains a map. Interestingly (and the only reason I mentioned the lower stern) is that the lower stern chest is completely full of loot, including two pieces of armor trim.

Is is possible that the map got overwritten by the armor trim, since that's brand new?

Anyhow, I'm writing this up because it MIGHT be a bug. But I can't be sure because I don't know how to access to code to find out.

Loot containers will not overwrite already-selected items, unless the container is completely filled.

Was there an empty map named "Buried Treasure Map"?

No, no maps at all. The other chest had ten pieces of paper, but neither had a map.

(I've seen the map that isn't a map bug before, but I couldn't report it due to bug tracker issues. If I see that again, I'll be sure to report it. But this one isn't that.)

NOTE: If one has Java 1.20.1, just go to that seed and location in creative mode. It's easy to see the two chests and check them out. Note that there's not shipwreck in Bedrock edition at that location.

Numerous reports already exist for that (just search "empty treasure map" and feast your eyes), so don't report it. 🙂

Gotcha! (And yes, I would have checked first.)

Looks like you just missed a chest; check at -458 50 67. 😉

You're right! I'm not sure how (except I haven't looted all the wood from this one yet), but there it is. Thank you!

You folks can close this ticket.
