When plugging in headphones while playing, Minecraft's audio still uses Speakers

that all versions of Minecraft have this issue even the oldest, like Alpha!

But also newer ones like what im playing right now 1.12.2! And yes also 1.20.4!

EDIT: When i start the game with headphones plugged in and then unplug it, the audio just dies no sounds at all!

restarting the game does reset my problems but after i start playing again and either plugging or unplugging it, the same issue happens again!

I never had a problem like this before, i was just playing Minecraft until i plugged in my headphones and then the audio from Minecraft starts playing through my speakers.

Keep in mind all my other programs played through my headphones at the same time as Minecraft plays through my speakers. Meaning that only Minecraft has this problem and also it doesn't mean my headphones are broken!

I did however test other headphones (Including new ones) and all the same problems!

I tested if other games have the same problem but no, only Minecraft Java Edition!

I even tried troubleshooting my audio devices, but to no avail! I don't know what the cause of this problem is, i don't even know if it's my PC or Minecraft who is doing this!

Anyways i took a screenshot of this issue and as you can see, i plugged in my headphones and Minecraft did not show up in the Volumemixer! Meaning no sounds from Minecraft plays through my headphones!

Note: i also want to point out that Minecraft doesn't even show up in the Speakers section, WEIRD!

Did you restart the game after plugging in your headphones? I've had issues with Minecraft Java in the past where it would not switch audio devices, and in some cases, it would stop playing audio altogether, until a game restart.

Try the Options...→Sounds...→Choose your headphone🙂

Minecraft maybe can not scan the new sound equipment when playing game.

Erllo Old versions of Minecraft don't have that option and it doesn't work!

PlimParrot, That's no way to go! I tried restarting it and it yes now my headphones work however as soon as i unplug it the sound instead just doesn't work at all and goes silent!

Cannot reproduce this on Windows 11 on the latest snapshot, 24w10a. This seems like a technical support issue with (what looks to be) Windows 10 not detecting your audio devices properly.

Jiingy You can't really recreate it in a specific version because it has nothing to do with the new release or update, but with the game itself. and like i said i already tried troubleshooting and reinstalling my audio drivers and with no luck!

bug tracker doesn't accept reports for outdated versions... this issue was fixed several updates ago

@unknown Did you even read my post? All versions are affected by this nuisance both new and old, because its minecraft who's the problem! Where else could i possibly post this, huh? Minecraft Forum is full of lazy people that take 5 years to even comment on your post! Not only that, we are tired to not get a simple solution for this basic problem.

This is not a help desk for technical issues, but for bug reports only.

@unknown Lazy response, no one wants to give me a proper solution anyways!

Thank you for your report!
