TNT does not drop items

When you explode blocks with TNT it doesn't drop any items, they just vanish.
I started building an iron farm and placed a bunch of glass for a water platform, but then decided on a redesign, so I used TNT to blow up the glass platform, but no items were dropped, they all disintegrated.
