Custom Model Data breakchangue

Okay lets start from zero.
Custo model data is a old ,very old way to edit items models. and 24w45a break all this system to "revamp" it to a new and "fancy" system that i personally will  use but i dont find correctly to just send to trash all the actual resourcepack. the datapack changues whas a bit hard to take up but managable at the end.
So more than a bug or i dont know if it is a bug or a lack of backwards compatibility i leave that as a "bug" so please read an reconsider or at least add a way to keep compatibility

Yes, I think I will need to remake all my ressource pack whenthe 1.21.4 came out...

Breaking changes are probably not a bug, unless there are loss of functionalities.

You can convert this 1:1 by just using a single value in floats, and using range_dispatch in the item model; the floats' values aren't restricted to 0..1, you can use any valid float (and round numbers are valid floats). (You can literally run a "find and replace" function on your files en-mass, and your files would be updated with no loss of functionality)

Changed formats are not bugs, and resource/data packs becoming incompatible aren't bugs either; they have a pack format number for a reason. Only if some behavior is no longer possible to do, or upgrade paths are missing for existing save-data (not user-made files), is it a valid report.

I will recall to dont think just in small things, as a example i manage a server and my rp is over 12mb with maybe more than 1k custom models is not that easy remake everything that, and the rp size increment to keep compatibilty is jut bad.

Also i say i dont consider it a bug but remove a way that was ussed from 1.13 to 1.21 its a simple way to disrepect the comunity, not just resourcepacks, servers and modders will suffer from that, dpack modifications whas bit because more people use mods or plugins for larhe servers. And dpack was just a bit of all.

Also they could just use the new item model component and not changue custom model data because is a old feature very used and expanded in mc

Dude, 1K is nothing compared to other people's custom maps; these changes actually allowed me to get rid of over 5k files, while adding just a few.

Again, changes in format are not valid issues to report unless stuff actively becomes impossible to do in the new format. Requesting to keep old formats compatible is a feature request, which doesn't belong here.
