Anvils do not use minecraft:block.iron.* sounds despite being made of iron

The bug

Anvils are a block composed entirely of iron. However, despite this, they use generic "metal" sounds for placement, breaking, footsteps and falling, despite the existence of dedicated "iron" sounds as of 25w02a.

This does not duplicate MC-94096, as that concerned the generic "metal" sound rather than the dedicated "iron" sound (while it does mention "iron sound", said ticket was created considerably before 25w02a when actual iron sounds were actually implemented, so it can be easily seen that said ticket is actually referring to the generic metal sounds).

How to reproduce

  1. Break/walk on iron blocks

  2. Break/walk on anvils

Expected results

The exact same set of sounds would be used.

Actual results

Anvils use the old, incorrect sounds.

How to fix

Make anvils use the new sounds.

Comments

Dhranios

Just for clarify, the anvil sound IDs should reference the iron sounds, anvils should not use the iron sound IDs.

muzikbike

Isn't the anvil sound ID only used for placement?

Dhranios

No, break, fall, hit, place and step sound IDs exist for anvil category.
