You still cannot set lit state of redstone torches using debug stick

The Bug

MC-141297 was fixed for setblock and fill command, but it still impossible to change the lit state of redstone torches using a debug stick.

How to reproduce

  • Place a redstone torch

  • Get a debug stick and right-click on the redstone torch with the debug stick
    -> ❌ The redstone torch is still lit

After consideration, the issue is being closed as Won't Fix.

Please note that this is not the same as Working as Intended, as this bug report correctly describes behavior in the game that might not be the intended or desirable behavior, but it will not be fixed right now. Sometimes, this is because the issue reported is minor and/or impossible to change without large architectural changes to the code base.

This is the only non-fluid-block block state that debug sticks cannot modify. It was part of the original report that was fixed.
Why is this the only state you deem not worth fixing? It should be as simple as adding a "nearby block changed" condition.
