Some plants not working properly with flowerpots

Put the summary of the bug you're having here
Some of the new plants (and old ones) can't be placed in flowerpots. Some plants when placed in flowerpots, aren't causing the block to update to show the plant in the pot, and don't become visible until something else causes the block to update.

What I expected to happen was...:
Placing a new flowerpot, and placing one of the new plants using right-click, I expected the new plant to appear in the pot.

What actually happened was...:
If I applied an Oak Sapling, Dandelion, Poppy, Brown Mushroom, Red Mushroom, Cactus, Dead Bush, nothing appeared in the flowerpot, until a block next to it was disturbed (such as by destroying the block next to it).

Sunflower, Lilac, Large Fern, Grass, Rose Bush, and Peony could not be placed in flowerpots at all.

Spruce, Birch, and Jungle Saplings, Fern, Blue Orchid, Allium, Azure Bluet, Red Tulip, Orange Tulip, White Tulip, Pink Tulip, and Oxeye Daisy all worked as expected.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Place flowerpot
2. Right click flower pot while holding plant
3. Break block next to flowerpot to force a block update

Confirmed. I think the two-tall ones can intentionally not be placed in a flower pot.

I wasn't sure which ones were intentional or not, so I just tried everything I could think of that someone MIGHT want to put in a flowerpot.

By their appearance, I think Peony and Lilac would look excellent in flower pots, if it used just the top half of the texture (as the inventory render does). Rose bush, however, may have issues. Either way, yeah, those probably weren't intended for flower pots.

I can confirm the bug on all which you mentioned, however. I imagine it has something to do with the fact that flower pots now have about 20 combinations, exceeding the normal 16, meaning that some metadata values had to be split off into a new, separate ID.

Also in 13w36b.

It seems as if the plants that don't have any metadata are having this problem.

It also appears that if you keep trying to place one of these glitched items into the same flower pot without doing a block update, the item that was already in the pot will be replaced with the item from your inventory.

In other words, if you keep clicking on the flower pot with a stack of a particular item, you can go through the entire stack and only be able to recover the last item placed in the pot.

EDIT: After further testing, it looks like the item placed in the pot will be replaced even with a block update. I placed a Dandelion in a pot, did a block update, and was able to replace the dandelion with a tulip without breaking the pot.

Of course, this edit might be pointless since it seems the fix is already slated for an upcoming version.

This is good.

appears fixed in snapshot 13w37a

Not fixed as of 1.7.5 (or, at least, 1.7.5 clients connecting to 1.7.4 server)

Person who places the mushroom in the pot sees it, other players do not see it until block update.

Tested and confirmed bug on brown and red mushroom, doesn't seem to be a problem for blue orchid or red poppy.

Unable to reproduce in 14w11b.
