The new biome, Savanna, has these new trees that generate in them. They are made out of jungle wood, and oak leaves. When cutting down one of these new trees and the leafs start to deteriorate, they drop oak saplings. When trying to grow this sapling in the Savanna biome, it just grows a normal oak tree. And in the creative menu, there are still only 4 saplings.
Maybe I am missing something, but it appears as if it is impossible to grow these new trees yourself.
I'll provide a picture of the new tree.

Swamp biom trees are oak trees... they just generate vines on world generation (its not a different tree).
All the new tree shapes are not createable yet (the 2x2 spruce trees for example).
Maybe they will add it later on. I mean it are oak leaves.
It is not a bug actually, but maybe they can add a special sapling 2 it 🙂
I'm hoping these are just placeholders and get replaced by new wood and new leaves with corresponding saplings
Thanks Dinnerbone!
It's fixed in the current snapshot. Now (newly generated) acacia and roofed forest trees have their own leaves, saplings and wood, so you can regrow them. The only trees you still aren't able to regrow are these large mega taiga spruce trees, but I guess this may be fixed soon, too.
be aware though that the new leaves still don't drop the right sappling yet. at least I havent seen it with any leaves despawning. they still drop the original sapplings instead of the new. (and yes I'm using newly generated trees. The acacia leaves are droping oak saplings for me in new worlds)
Probably just missed a line in the new leaves code saying use sapling "A"
And they even added separate textures for all new logs and leaves 🙂
The only thing I miss: Mega Spruce trees still can't be grown using 4 spruce saplings, or not?
The Swamp biome Trees are also not abled to reproduse
