When generating new terrain from 1.21.5 pre 3 there is no transition between chunks and it causes abrupt and ugly cuts between chunks.
Environment
I was testing 1.21.5 Pre 3 generating new terrain to get the new mobs and I found that the new generation chunks generate abruptly without transition.

The terrain is from before 1.8. I know the generation is different, but before 1.21.5 pre-3, there was a transition between old and new chunks where the difference was barely noticeable. It wasn't that abrupt.
It seems like chunk blending doesn’t work anymore between chunks with the same DataVersion
. This is most evident when using “Optimize World“ on an older world.
Example:
Generate a world in 1.16.5.
Switch to 1.21.5-rc1 and use “Optimize World“ on this world.
Fly to where new chunks should appear.
Observe a hard edge in the terrain.
The last version where “Optimize World“ worked as intended was 25w08a. When repeating the steps above with 25w08a the blending works as expected:
[media]I opened a similar issue a few days ago, assuming this only affects blending when “cancelling” the generation of surrounding chunks:
What was the last version this world was played on? (before 1.21.5 Pre-Release 3)
