Banner markers on maps cause quite noticable lag, especially when using a resource pack with a high-resolution font (which many resource packs have, e.g. to display smoother text). Noticed this on my survival world containing a 18x18 map room with lots of locations marked on the maps. FPS was around 50-60 in previous updates, now it drops down to 10-20 whenever looking towards the map room, even from several chunks away. Deleting the font files from the resource pack brings the framerate back up to usual values.
PS:
Added a test world below containing a lot of banner markers, a test resource pack containing a HD font and 4 screenshots comapring performance between vanilla and HD font as well as MC versions 1.21.4 and 1.21.5 with both vanilla and HD font.
As you can clearly see (and test yourself), perfomance is generally drastically reduced as of 1.21.5 even in vanilla, and it drops to absolutely unplayable values with a HD font enabled. Thereโs no performance impact with neither resource pack in 1.21.4.

Iโve literally added ALL the information to reproduce it, screenshots, test world and test pack included! This should be more than enough to prove it. Did you even try it? Or is this just an automatically generated robot reply?
I can confirm this being an issue in 1.21.5 on several different PCs. Havenโt checked the most recent snapshot though, until then, please reopen.
