The uploaded file is the data pack(25w20a).
the command is: ”/function biome_locator:debug”
description:
The command 'locate biome plains' can display the information of the location in the message bar when used normally.
However, if "execute as @a at @s locate biome plains" is used in debug.mcfunction, it will become invalid.
Can confirm, and I made an example datapack for 1.21.6-pre1:[mediaInline]. Load it up and run the only function.
This behavior may be intended, I can’t really think of a situation where it would be desirable for the chat message to be printed when /locate
is run from a function, and if for some reason you really do want that you can run the command in a command block minecart and use macros to reconstruct the exact same message. That being said, I’m partial to the idea that a command’s behavior should not depend on whether it was called from a function, so it would certainly make sense to fix this and ask datapack developers to make sure they run their /locate
s with a non-player executor.
