Hello! So, went to enjoy Minecraft, was doing just fine, until the game started lagging and the FPS dropped for no apparent reason. Can’t really see why. Everything is functioning normally, all debug info seems fine, aside from the dropping FPS, and the game I’m worried will crash. Went down to what I can only say seemed to be maybe 1-2 FPS. Unplayable. Needs work. Not really seeming to be a PICNIC issue. And yes, I heard somebody else get told to increase the allocated RAM, and I can safely say I’m giving it all I’ve got to spare, which is a lot, considering I’m using an Alienware with a 4090 GPU in her, and Minecraft really isn’t that intensive of a exercise routine. Not entirely sure on the RAM amount, but I did pick the maximum amount of RAM available when ordering, so if that doesn’t say anything by reasonable deduction I don’t know what will, might’ve been something like 256G RAM or something like that, I don’t remember. I should also mention that my Nvidia App program is currently set for optimized capabilities, which in this case is three bars on the meter shy of the maximum quality setting. I’d care not to cook my computer if you don’t mind, so I won’t be changing any of that. Anyways, if you nice people could look at this, before I lose my mind having to randomly shut down Minecraft every 10-30 minutes while trying to locate a particular set of Shulker Boxes I could have swore I kept somewhere in a chest, then that would be much obliged. Thank you. Wasn’t doing this during Pre-Release 4, I should mention. Not really an option to back up to that version either. Anyways, thanks for trying, Rockatoa, Brickticks out!

Hmm, I have been interacting with a lot of chests recently, I’m trying to find where in the world, (literally), that I stashed some Shulker Boxes I could have swore I saved in a chest somewhere, but now can’t seem to find the chest. I even tried using Spectator Mode to look underground for where I might’ve buried the chest, but to no avail. Hmm, maybe if I stop touching chests for a little bit it would help. But, here’s the question, would it also do this when opening a Shulker Box or a Barrel? Common sense says yes, but I’m not sure. I’ll keep you all posted on my efforts to not only identify the problem with this mysterious and random lag but also to find said Shulker Boxes. Wish me luck! Bye!
I experienced the same bug. It first appeared on 1.21.6, but it is also present in 1.21.7 rc-1. The effect worsens over time. I have the default 2GB of ram allocated.
Observations:
-Exiting a world and re-entering does not fix it. Only closing Minecraft and re-launching it does.
-Effect takes a few minutes to appear. Memory starts around 20%, but then climbs to 100% after a few minutes.
-Wandering around worsens it.
-Alongside FPS being low, GPU sometimes hits 100%, and so does memory.
The same thing is happening for me. This is everything I currently know:
The occasional frame drops I get when flying around the world happen a lot more often in 1.21.6 than they did in 1.21.5.
The sky flickers sometimes, usually at sunrise or sunset. (This also happens in 1.21.5)
In 1.21.6, the F3+1 chart says that the game is using more memory on gameRenderer than it did in 1.21.5.
Also, I am using an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8565U CPU @ 1.80GHz and Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620.
I have the exact same problem, I have absurd lag spikes, I go from having 400 fps to 50 and then they go back up randomly. I can't figure out if it's my computer or minecraft itself. I have an rtx 2060 with the latest updated drivers, windows is updated to the latest version, my ssd has 105 gb free. and I have 32gb of ram, as another user said. The problem seems to be fixed only if you completely restart minecraft and the launcher. In addition, if I change the ram allocation space it fixes, but turning the pc off and on again brings it back to the same conditions,
Thank you for your report!

Hi! I've been having the same issue since 1.21.5, but updating to 1.21.6 seems to have worsened it significantly. I now get lag spikes much more frequently. The FPS drops from around 100 to 1 or even 0. This seems to happen almost every time I interact with a chest. I usually play with 2 GB RAM allocated, recently changed this to 4 GB RAM, but the issue persists. I play on Windows 11, GPU Intel UHD Graphics, 16 GB RAM.
