The nouveau driver is used on the gpu, and I keep getting this crash in both vanilla and modded.

switcheroo-control is used for forcing the dGPU, otherwise the game is always launched with the Radeon VEGA iGPU.
The game works fine with the Radeon VEGA iGPU, but always crash with the dGPU.
For some reasons, the dGPU VRAM is misdetected?
Environment
Gentoo Linux - up to date system
Latest MESA (1.21.5) and Xorg
Using latest MultiMC (as I'm on gentoo)
Laptop with a Radeon VEGA iGPU and a GTX 1660 Ti Mobile GPU [4 gb RAM]
32 Gb RAM on the system

If that fails, please attach the crash report found in minecraft/crash-reports/crash-<DATE>-client.txt here.
As I said, there’s no crash-reports at all.
Try the solution in the comment on MC-1384 to see if that fixes it.
Are you sure you linked the right bug report?
I don’t see any solution in it except using another driver, and I can’t rely on the proprietary nvidia driver.
Please use the vanilla launcher. Third-party launchers, modifications, and clients are not supported on this bug tracker.
Your game, launcher or server is modified.
If you can reproduce the issue in a vanilla environment, please recreate the issue.
Any non-standard client/server/launcher build needs to be taken up with the appropriate team, not Mojang.
Actually, I just rechecked and the official launcher is picking up the Radeon iGPU, not the Nouveau GPU I’m getting issues with other launchers, so this bug report is probably not invalid at all.
See the pic:
The latest version of the game (1.21.8) is also crashing if run with the official launcher if the launcher has been started with the DRI_PRIME=1! argument to force using the NVidia GPU.
The official launcher also doesn’t seems to support switcheroo-control which is a very bad behaviour.
See the attached bug report.

Please reopen.
I created a new bug report as requested:
https://report.bugs.mojang.com/servicedesk/customer/portal/2/MC-301436
I do not think this is a problem with the game, rather it seems likely that your GPU’s info is not accessible to the game. Try the solution in the comment on MC-1384 to see if that fixes it. Also try using the vanilla launcher.
If that fails, please attach the crash report found in minecraft/crash-reports/crash-<DATE>-client.txt here.
If you cannot find a crash report, please attach the full launcher log found in minecraft/launcher_log.txt.
