I was playing minecraft 1.21.7 and shutdown minecraft to move the laptop. When I started it again, the Launcher Downloaded something and now the game will not start. It hangs pretty close to the beginning (see screen shot). Task manager says that openJDK Platform Binary is not responding.
I have searched the crash reports for 1.21.7 but they talk about crashes much later in the process.
I’ve tried 1.21.8 rc1. Same thing
I even tried 1.21.6. Same thing
I uninstalled it. Moved the .minecraft folder and renamed it. Reinstalled the laucher. After it finished all that, it crashed at the same point.
My windows update was up to date already so It wouldn’t do anything. Check drivers are update for the Intel HD Graphics 4000
The download in the larucher that started this all happened around 5:00pm cst 2025-07-16
I attached one of the lastest logs. The actual latest one is zero bytes.

Could you try uninstalling the game as well as the Launcher again, delete .minecraft folder (copy its content elsewhere before deletion) and then reinstall, restart your computer. Then please try to boot the Launcher. Also did you try updating your Java to latest version?
Could you also let us know if you installed any moderations for your world.
If this issue continues to occur please upload a video of it occurring.

I had my IT person here the entire time, and at first reporting that we tried what you mentioned. I can definataely inform you that there is no modifications to the launcher nor to Minecraft of any kind.
he did think about updating Java but they (IT person) does not know exactly where the Minecraft Launcher put it.

I’m having the same issue. The launcher sometimes loads, but then it can’t open the game. Thank you for posting because I am not that tech savvy.
