When loading into a world or changing dimensions, only one movement input is retained. For example, if you walk diagonally into a nether portal holding W and D (as shown in the attached video), upon being teleported you will either walk straight ahead or strafe right instead of continuing to walk diagonally. Briefly releasing the affected key will fix the issue.
To reproduce
Navigate to the singleplayer world list
Double-click a world, then begin holding W and D while it is loading
β When the world loads, only one of your inputs is recognized (most likely W)

Itβs seems unlikely that this is an issue with macOS itself, but rather Minecraft does not fetch inputs from the OS in a fully cross-platform way.
I unfortunately was unable to reproduce this, most likely is a macOS issue.
